New Zealand Cross Country Championships

NZ Cross Country
Not only was Saturday a glorious day weather-wise, but out at Halswell Quarry it was a very successful day for our Club. The first race of the day ended with Mark Bailey clearing out from the field to win the overall Masters title. Kerry Faass was third overall and took the silver in his age group. Tony McManus was a convincing winner in his age group as well. In the Masters women's event, Ruth Love-Smith took 4th in her age group. The Senior Men's race was an echo of earlier races this season. Callan Moody made it three in a row by winning in 38:49. Daniel Balchin was 3rd and Hayden Mclaren was 4th.

Canterbury Cross Country Championships

Canterbury Cross Country
The Senior Men's race was the feature of the day, with Callan Moody and Dan Balchin once again pushing the pace out front to establish a clear lead over the rest of the field. Kerry Faass won the Master's Men grade and Tony McManus won his age group, as did Ruth Love-Smith. This was a warm up for the national XC Champs which will also be held at Halswell Quarry in 3 weeks time. Check out Dave Ridley's video of the race on YouTube.
